Great sound, horrible durability.
My second Belkin TuneBase just broke, in exactly the same way as the first one did, within only a few months of use. There's a spring in the end connecting with the car lighter/power outlet that spontaneously sprang out of both units when I pulled it from the jack. This prevented it from connecting with the power source and made it inoperable. And, the spring couldn't be properly reinstalled. Belkin replaced the first TuneBase at no charge but I'm pretty tired of being stranded without my iPod in the car for weeks at a time every couple of months, so this time I'm going to try a different design instead of seeking a replacement. It's disappointing because this is the best FM transmitter I've tried. Though it plays somewhat quietly, it's a vast improvement over others, including cassette adapters. I've never had problems with static or hissing. I've also always been able to find clear reception no matter where I've traveled, and rarely have had to change the station even when driving hundreds of miles. I'll probably try another Belkin product because of the great sound quality and cross my fingers that it doesn't fall apart like this one is prone to do.
