The ER-6 Isolator earphones provide outstanding sound quality and isolation in a lightweight, compact package. And at less than half the price of ER-4 earphones, they're an incredible value. Because these earphones were designed to match the acoustic response of the open ear, their response accuracy surpasses that of all other earphones and earbuds in their class. With their 15-20 dB of isolation, the ER-6's offer more external noise reduction than any other noise-reduction earphone. Why is isolation important? By blocking out ambient sounds, you can hear the full range of today's digital recordings without having to play them at unnaturally high and potentially unsafe levels. Since you don't have to boost the volume to overcome external noise, ear-overload distortion is minimized. The ER-6 Isolator earphone system includes:5' cord with 3.5 mm stereo phone plug;2 double-flanged silicone eartips;2 foam eartips;2 replacement filters;Filter-changing tool;Shirt clip;Pouch.

Just bought 3rd pair
This headphones are the best in their class. They are not bulky like a Bose headphone and sound great. They take a little getting used to, but you will never go back. I listen to rap with lots of bass and have never thought the headphones lacked any. The only problem is the lifespan, mine have all lasted about 1 year. The problem is the poor quality cord, for my next pair I will stop wrapping them around my iPod Shuffle (I never remove them by the cord). Unfortunately, because they are so great at isolating sound (my cell phone went off in the library and I never heard it!) I keep buying them. Worth $80/year!!!

Goldilocks ear buds
As in the story, these are just right. Under my motorcycle helmet, they provide clear sound, good volume, and comfort. Most ear bud types get pulled out when you put the helmet on or drop out as you ride, because they don't really fit well. This set conforms comfortably to you ear canal.

They do their job, even at 80+ mph...oops, I meant 50+mph...:)

Good Headphones
Not the most expensive in the world. Gets the job done. Good noise reduction.

great, but
First off, these buds sound great to me. I've been using the Sony 71's for years now. These are $50 buds that sound like $100 buds, at least IMHO. These Etymotics are a cut above the Sonys. They do a more complete job of cutting the outside noise to almost nothing. The bass is clean, the treble is crisp. GREAT buds.

Best Noise Canceling Earphones. Period.
I've been using the ER6i earphones for three years and they are hands down the best you can buy. The mid-level bass response is full-bodied, but at higher frequencies the product shines: crisp, clear, and full-ranged. The somewhat fragile-looking cords have held up fine, and I've used mine on many international flights, smiling at the Bose QuietComfort crowd as they drag out the big ostentatious travel pouch. You don't need noise canceling when you have noise proofing--the 33 db sound proofing rivals the top-ranked blaze orange industrial grade foam earplugs, and I never take the motorcycle out without them. Stick them in, and disappear into your music in a busy office, airport or coffee shop. The only downside of the ER61 is they block out ambient sound so well that when someone tries to get your attention, you'll talk way too loud--a sign of a true blue Etymotic dork.
