Poor execution
I purchased my Nyko ahead of a year long trip abroad, thinking it would be a bit of time between chargings. I ended up tossing it after only a month.

Simply put, even the slim design adds enough bulk to where you no longer can comfortably fit your ipod into your pocket. The unit itself adds no discernable play time and if you have it plugged in to the power unit and the ipod at the same time, the ipod will not draw power from the unit, effectively draining itself. This means I was spending twice as much time charging each unit. The same problem happens when charging - you can't charge the ipod while it is plugged into the Nyko. You have to charge each seperately.

You are better off going on the internet and building a do-it-yourself battery pack. Its easier, cheaper, and will work better.

I boost battery pack for Ipod
Excellent Product, used it on my trip to Ireland. Easy to use, just charge and go. I was able to watch more movies with my video ipod this way on the long flight to Ireland. Highly reccomend this product.

exaggerated battery life claims, but still quite good
I wonder whether or not any iBoost user has actually gotten Nkyo's claimed 'extra 7 hours' of video. Suffice it to say that I'm happy with the extra 3-4 hours that I have gotten from my Nyko.

One thing that I don't like is that the Nyko seems to lose its charge after a few days. This necessitates charging it the night before you need it to ensure a full charge.

At around $30 on Amazon I think the iBoost is quite good. However, I might take a look around to see if any other battery packs hold the charge better.

Works great!
I have a 5G-30GB video ipod - this battery pack works exactly as advertised. I have only used it a couple times, so I can't vouch for the exact amount of extra time, but it worked flawlessly on a 15 hour trip to Italy from the states. It wasn't in use the whole time, but there was never an issue of running out of battery power. It also fits well with the ipod, and doesn't excessively bulk it up - it easily fits in the little generic carrying case I use to store my ipod, charging cord, earphones, etc. I recommend this without any reservations.

Excellent Product; Works Almost As Advertised
I got two of these for my 80 GB iPod video. I can charge the iBoost and sync my iPod at the same time or charge the iBoost independently. I'm pretty sure that I don't get the full 16 hours of extra audio and the 7 hours of advertised video, but I come pretty close to tripling the amount of iPodding that I can do between recharges which is perfect for vacations.

Nyko did an excellent job designing the device. You can use your iPod until until the battery is almost dead, then slide it into the iBoost. The iBoost adds a little bit to the size of the iPod when connected, but not so much so that it doesn't fit in my pocket. It does keep it from fitting in my armband, however. It adds just under an inch below the iPod where the battery is housed. Less than a quarter inch is added in thickness as well. So the statement on the packaging "So slim, so light. You won't know it's there" isn't exactly true; nevertheless, it is a good device.

It will not fit will for the smaller width iPods, but an attachment is included so that the thinner iPods (same width, but thinner) will fit well. As I have only been using the iBoost for a short period of time, I cannot speak to how well the lithium ion battery ages and continues to hold a charge.

Nevertheless, for the price and the utility of the device, I would strongly recommend anybody who ever has had to stop using his/her iPod because the battery died get one of these.
