One small box adds smooth iPod play through a compatible Pioneer car stereo receiver. Pioneer's iPod adapter is the gateway to taking your tunes on the road! Your Pioneer stereo will display up to eight characters of text including album, artist, and song names, with the ability to scroll additional information. When your iPod is docked to the CD-IB100, the adapter will even charge the internal battery of the iPod, giving you plenty of juice when you reach home, the office, running errands, or anywhere you take your iPod! With select 2005 Pioneer audio/video units, the adapter provides enhances features including multi-line text and list search, taking advantage of the larger displays. Through Pioneer's IP-Bus system, the CD-IB100 is backwards compatible with more than 3 million Pioneer car stereos sold during the past several years. Users will be able to operate their iPods as easily as they would using the stereo unit, by means of the stereo's front panel controls. Earlier Pioneer stereos will display up to eight characters of text including album, artist and song names, with the ability to scroll additional information. The CD-IB100 adapter also takes full advantage of Pioneer's audio enhancement capabilities such as Easy Equalizer (EEQ) and Bit Media Expander (BMX). Pioneer radios with the built-in EEQ feature let users adjust the sound from their iPod/iTunes device to their audio preference. Units with the BMX feature automatically restore the harmonics lost during recording of compressed music, giving the listener the same warmth and richness found in the original musical recording. Plug-in your Apple iPod into a Pioneer IP-Bus receiver and you are ready to play. Compatible 3rd and 4th generation iPod models with dock connector, as well as the iPod Mini.

Why, oh why, didn't I check Amazon reviews first?
I am totally stunned that this could be sold as iPOD compatible. Nothing, absolutely nothing, works as you would intuitively think it would. Pause does not pause, forward arrow does not forward to the next track (just starts the same track over and over again), and heaven help you if you actually want to find a specific song or artist. There is no way to actually speed through a menu - you have to advance one artist at a time. This is fine if you love Aaron Neville but chances are you will be in a limb severing accident if you are trying to get to ZZ Top. I am taking this back tomorrow and demanding something that will allow me to control my iPod again from my iPod.

Watch out Navigation Trickers
If you apply the last update to the Ipod Software (the one that let you play new games, and video podcast), the Navigtion Trick will no longer work. In the case of my 60Gb Ipod video, I've had to restore an old software version in order to get the navigation trick working again

ugh!
got this installed today along w/ the pioneer deh-p58000mp head unit at best buy...plugged in the ipod, check mark shows up on the screen, and....nothing...i can't even control it on the head unit...sometimes, if i'm very lucky, the check mark screen doesn't come on for 30 seconds or so and the ipod actually plays (it's at the normal ipod screen), then once the check mark screen comes on, complete silence...i have a 3g 10gb ipod and as far as i should know, it should work...the head unit is also annoying b/c if you put the mp3 cd on random and want to skip songs, it unrandomizes & plays the song right after it...so if you're like me and you skip songs a lot and like to set it on random, it doesn't work...i think i'm returning both tomorrow...
