sendstation usb pocketdock review
If you use your ipod on speakers that don't have docking capabilities this is a must + comes with some handy (long) connecting leads.

Works with VIDEO connection if you have no AUX
I'm rather technically challenged, as they say, so I was a bit taken aback when I went to connect the Pocketdock and discovered that my receiver doesn't have AUX inputs. I was pleasantly surprised to find it works just fine with the VIDEO inputs. I considered a more expensive docking station with the RF remote, but if you can't see the menus on the remote, what real advantage is it? I'm happy with this little gadget; it does its job and it's all I need to listen to my ipod through my home stereo.

Not a clean solution
Bought this for my car as a replacement for an XtremeMac Roadshow as that cable doesn't work with newer iPods and any iPhone. While the PocketDock works I'm only giving it 3 stars because:

- its a bit big
- would have been much nicer if it used a mini-usb socket. the larger usb cable significantly adds to the size of this thing.
- as another reviewer stated, it doesn't fit tightly into my iPod Video. Seems to be more secure with my iPhone though.
- it doesn't support video out. While the PocketDock AV does video out it doesn't work with newer iPods & iPhones. Not a big deal though.
- having 2 separate cables coming out the bottom is a big of a drag, especially in a car

On the good side:
- Audio quality is fine. If using it in a car then you will likely need to get a ground loop isolator. This isn't an issue with the PocketDock, its an issue with your car.
- being cable-less you can choose the size of the cables you want use to hook it up. That's useful if you are a tight space and don't want deal with 3 foot cables. My old roadshow had a huge cable that was a tight fit in the armrest storage area of my Infiniti G35.

I bought this because it was cheaper solution when compared to Apple's $49 Composite Out cable. However, given the issues I think this is going to end up in a box, replaced by Apple's cable. If you are in the same situation as me you may want to pass on this and just get Apple's cable.

Pretty Cool
I have my ipod plugged into my car stereo's aux input. Using this product, the volume is controlled completely by the stereo, rather than both the ipod and the stereo, which would be the case if I plugged into the headphones jack. To me that's an advantage, because I'm always switching from listening on my headphones, to plugging it into my car through the pocketdock. There's no fussing with the volume.
Being able to plug a charger through the additional USB connector while I'm listening is fantastic. I could go on road trips, and not have to worry about battery power. Very nice.

Line out DOES NOT give better sound quality with Nano
I tried using this dock with my 1st generation Nano. I found absolutely no difference when connected to the headphone jack or the PocketDock line out. I tried this with a car stereo which has a aux input jack as well as a home amplifier Yamaha HTR 5550.

Other than this, the product is definitely of good build quality. Only wish the line out worked as advertised.
