Awesome!!I just finished installing my replacement battery in my mini. The instructional cd-rom was extremely helpful and the entire process only took 20-25 min. This is a great alternative to sending the ipod back to apple or spending big $$$$ for a new pod. Its very easy to do and put new life into my ailing old ipod. I did scrape the top of the aluminium casing a little but not big deal, it works as good as new!!!!
Not recommendedThe instructions make this appear like a relatively fool-proof process, which it is not. They warn you about smearing adhesive on the screen when it is reinserted into the case, when they SHOULD instead warn you that the screen is extremely fragile and the least bit of pressure on it will crack it and render the iPod useless.
Works well so farI installed the new battery in my preterminal ipod mini yesterday and it works great so far. It's probably slightly more difficult than the accompanying video makes it seem, but not dramatically so. The hardest part is getting the top and bottom off, and I would agree with one of the other reviewers who complained that the plastic tool to perform this feat dulls too easily. Overall, I was relatively pleased with the outcome, and would do it again to save the $.
Great alternative to the offers Apple makes to help your dead ipodMy mini battery lasted around a year and a half before dying. Rather then pay $60+ for Apple to refurbish my Ipod, I took a chance with this battery. Now that I did, Im glad I made this decision.
The battery took about 20 minutes to install. If you follow the video, the installation is really simple, and anyone could perform the operation.
I had a few quirks getting the Ipod to stop showing a folder icon that it displayed before my original battery. But after a few restores, Ive got it working.
The only reason why I give this product 4 stars, is that the audio quality on the quicktime installation video is way too low. I performed the " operation " kitchen table with my laptop to show the video and I could barely hear the audio in the video coming from my laptop on max volume. Then I put it into my PC and ran into the same problem.
Also, they give you a plastic sharp edge tool to pry off the white top and bottom parts of the ipod. The problem is, this tool dulls way to fast. By the time I got to the bottom part, the tool was mangled and somewhat rounded, making the task of prying off the bottom much more difficult then it shouldve been.
Overall, buy this battery if you want to " revive " your dead ipod, and avoid the ripoff offers that Apple gives you to replace your Ipod battery.
