Fantastic All Around
While there are a number of other color choices out there, I've been on an orange kick lately, so this caught my eye. If you don't like the color combos that are available, you can always pick up the inner sleeves (also through iSkin) to mix and match to your heart's content. I'm sure that could start getting expensive though...
The fit on these is great. I ended up putting the hard screen cover between the iPod and the inner sleeve, although it appears it was meant to go between the two sleeves. I tried it that way, and it would go all cockeyed when working out. It hasn't budged in its new position, and it's been that way for 2 weeks now. I've read some complaints that the hard cover distorts the edges of the screen, making it hard to read some items or see the battery meter. I haven't had any problems like that. I can see the battery meter just fine, and my wrist is incredibly capable of tilting the iPod just a smidge if I'm too lazy to scroll up/down to read text.
I like the fact that the belt clip is removeable, but I wish the part left on the iSkin were a little more flush. Give and take, I suppose. It's easy enough to get on and off, no complaints there. The clip is sturdy enough, but I'm still a little undecided on it. I've managed to catch the iPod on objects (chairs, mostly) as I walk by, and the swivel clip seperates, sending the iPod flying. It's good, in the sense that it doesn't break the clip (rendering it useless), it just snaps back on. And it's not overly strong, which could mean damage to the iPod instead. But unless I hear the iPod hit the floor, or think to double check my belt, it would be easy enough to lose it in the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria at work.
The silicone is quick to pick up lint. On the "carbon" outer skin, it's somewhat noticeable. Other colors may be more or less obvious. I haven't found a great way of getting the lint off, other than rubbing furiously with the heel of my hand... I've pretty much given up, I'm not that obsessed with high-fashion electronics.
The integrated port/headphone covers are a nice touch. I can open either with one finger (of the hand holding the iPod or the hand holding the plug, either way) and plug what I need to where I need to. Does a nice job of keeping dust and debris out. I haven't hooked up any accessories to it (other than the standard USB cable), so I don't know if there's enough padding to keep it from connecting to an FM transmitter, for example. Or the upcoming Nike+ unit, which I'll be getting here soon enough.
I personally feel the price is a little steep, but still the best overall for the money. I will have no regrets picking up another one for my wife's iPod shuffle, and probably the keyboard protector for my MacBook Pro.
