Small price. Big Value.I just bought these cute little things from a shop over here yesterday. I've used them enough to know what they're like though.
When I saw them in the shop for only 25 bucks, I was suspecting that the "Crystal Clear Sound" thing written accross the front of the box was a load of bull. Then I tried them. Boy was I wrong.
I hate to admit it, but the 110 dollar JBL Creature II speakers I bought a while ago have pretty much the same sound! Although this doesn't have a bass/treble knob, the sound is great.
I would reccomend these to any music lover who prefers they sound loud.
Good portable soundWe have now purchased 3 of these for various members of the family. Although the sound is not spectacular, it is respectable. The volume is plenty loud for use in the home and even outside around the pool. The best feature is its portability. My wife uses it outside when gardening and the kids have one on their desks for listening without earphones. I'm sure there are products out there with higher fidelity, but for the money we have found this to be a very good buy.
Not Too Good...When i first recieved this item, it worked perfectly. Great sound quality, it recharched my iPod, and it was cheap. However, after about three weeks the built-in iPod recharger began to not work. After another week, only three of the speakers worked. After about another two weeks, only two speakers worked. The speakers were good quality to begin with and easy to travel with, however, now only two speakers work and most of the time, there's static. It seemed like it was worth the money at first, but now I'm begining to doubt that.
It's a gamble.Pros: It's small and packs nicely.
It can run on batteries or wall power.
It charges your IPod.
It's one of the cheapest available. (12/13/06 -$40)
Cons: I've been having trouble with one of the four speakers. When I first used it, it was perfect. Then for the next several times, there was static that only ceased when I fiddled with it for several minutes. At one point there was even an obnoxious drone that prompted me to return it, but it was already too late. Then, as I'm listening to it right now, it's working perfect again. (And I havent done anything different)
There is no "low" volume. When the IPod is docked, only the volume on the item can be used (not on the IPod). It drops from a medium sound to completly nothing.
In trying to obtain a "low" volume, I plugged in the stereo cable, which enabled me to use the volume on my IPod. I was able to get a quieter sound, but there was a constant static like a bad radio station.
My advice: It's a gamble. It can't be beat for price, size, and loudness, but because of the speaker issue I was ready to return mine. So if you are willing to go through the return process (which is only 7 days for this product) then give it shot. Some people seem to be very satisfied. Buy it, test it for yourself, and then return it if need be.
